At Tufcot we are proactive in operating within eco-friendly policies, processes and products that will minimise impacts on air, land, and water.
As a company, Tufcot are very aware of the huge impacts on the environment from manufacturing our materials and products. Therefore, we commit to making a difference by changing how we manufacture and engineer.
One of Tufcot’s key benefits as both a material and a product is that it already has some key environmental benefits for the market sectors and applications; minimal to no maintenance, self-lubricating, weight savings and weighs 1/6th of steel.
All of these benefits are improving Tufcot’s environmental impact – but we want to go further and change how we manufacture by being more sustainable.
Tufcot’s Environmental Policy
Tufcot has had an Environmental Policy for numerous years and has been approved as being Carbon Smart in the UK.
We update our Environmental Policy with different objectives for the coming year.
We ensure our policy is relevant to our procedures and not generic.
Here are some examples from our Policy:
ISO 14001 Accreditation
ISO 14001 is an internationally recognised standard that sets out the requirements for an environmental management system.
It helps organisations improve environmental performance through more efficient use of resources and reduction of waste, gaining a sustainable competitive advantage. However, to us it’s more than getting the tick in the box. ISO 14001 gives us the platform to define our environmental impacts by carrying out regular risk assessments on our material, production process and many more environmental factors.
Tufcot feels responsible for making our supply chain as environmentally efficient as possible. We require Supplier Questionnaire Forms to be completed upon purchase which gives us the confidence that our critical Suppliers are just as aware of the environmental impacts as we are.
We are working towards the future to minimise Tufcot’s environmental impacts and we hope over the coming years we will become more sustainable.
Green Growth & Green Development for a Green Future
The Importance of Taking an Environmental Approach
Tufcot want our children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and so on to be able to live in a green world so we want to start taking an environmental approach now before it’s too late.
Taking an environmental approach eliminates overproduction, thereby reducing waste and the use of energy and raw materials, fewer defects from processing and product changeovers which reduces energy and resources required.
Integrating sustainability into Tufcot will position us to meet changing regulations in a timely manner and comply with rapidly changing regulations.
These regulations are there to follow to protect the environment and also allow us to keep employees safe within the working environment.
