Apprentice Machining Technician
Overview

Role Information
At Tufcot we continually work to improve our manufacturing and machining facilities, develop our material range, and expand our technical knowledge. We are currently expanding our team and recruiting an apprentice machining technician. The apprentice will report to the Production Department and have the following role responsibilities:
- Receive, read and understand engineering data and documents, engineering drawings and technical data.
- Check and examine materials to be machined to ensure that they conform to quality standards. Identify and report any issues or faults such as incorrect grades and dimensions.
- Plan for the machining activities. Ensure that the correct tooling, work holding, and materials are used.
- Maintain the machining work area, performing housekeeping and waste management as appropriate. Ensure tools, unused materials and equipment are returned to a safe, clean and approved condition on completion of machining work.
- Set up, operate, edit conventional or CNC machining equipment settings and programmes for the machine tool being used.
- Machine high-quality complex components using a broad range of processes.
- Inspect components produced. Adjust the machining equipment or programme and tooling to ensure components meet quality requirements.
- Identify, communicate and report issues affecting machining component quality, quantity and deadlines.
- Complete machining documents as work is completed
- Keep line managers informed about machining work.
Qualification Requirements
You will need both of the following:
- GCSE English language C or 4 or above
- GCSE Maths C or 4 or above on the Higher Maths paper only
Skills Required
- Good communication skills (Verbal and Written).
- Strong Numeracy skills.
- Ability to multitask.
- Self-motivated.
- Must be a team player as well as having the ability to work on own initiative.
- Any previous engineering experience would be desirable.
Things To Consider
During the first year you will be required to attend the University of Sheffield AMRC Training Centre in Sheffield, full time for an initial block of study.
One Friday per month you will return to your workplace.
After the initial block training you will attend the AMRC Training Centre for one day a week to undertake the knowledge study. The remaining four days will be spent in company learning on the job.

Factory Operative
Overview

- Labouring: 2 years (Preferred)
- Engineering: 2 years (Preferred)
Role Information
The role will include:
- Cleaning the workshop and machines and ensuring all walkways are clear.
- Emptying bins into the correct waste disposal unit
- Splitting goods
- Rumbling goods
- Drilling goods
- General housekeeping within the workshop
- Packing (when needed)
- Completing ad-hoc tasks required in the manufacturing department
- Manual lifting
- Communicate with machinists/production department about all above duties
- Any jobs given by management or supervisors.
- Any jobs the Company requires you to complete as mentioned in your Contract of employment.

Admin/Accounts Role

Role Information
Admin & Accounts Duties
- Answer Phones and Welcoming Visitors – Including transferring to correct departments and taking messages
- Sort incoming emails to relevant folders, print any price enquiries, respond to any price enquiries on behalf of the sales team
- Purchase Ordering – Placing orders from suppliers and filling in correct paperwork relating to this, updating relevant order logs
- Dispatching Goods – Including making delivery notes, pro forma invoices, invoice details, certificates of conformity and booking carriers in.
- Liaising with Production office and Packing department if necessary when dispatching goods
- Process purchase invoices from Suppliers – Including gathering all relevant paperwork and inputting on Sage 50 Accounts.
- Other general duties e.g. controlling refreshments for workshop, filing, liaising with customers to meet their needs.
- Providing all departments with admin assistance for any relevant tasks as requested.
Requirements
- Competent on all Microsoft programs, specifically Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Experience of using Sage 50 Accounts software
- Previous Purchase ledger experience preferred
- Ability to work as part of a busy team as well as working alone on certain tasks.
- Keen eye for detail
