  • Post: Technical Sales Engineer
  • To Report To: Engineering Manager
  • Salary: £14.50 per hour – £30,160 per annum
  • Working Hours: 8am to 4.30pm – Monday to Friday.
  • Position: Permanent with a progressive and developing company.
  • Holidays: 25 days plus statutory holidays.


We require the following:

  • A highly motivated and technically minded individual.
  • Time served within other technical departments, engineering or a degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Excellent communication and organisation skills.
  • To be able to work independently but also collaborate with colleagues in the technical department.
  • Sales experience.
  • Strong IT capabilities, primarily on Microsoft Office, with strong English and Maths skills.
  • AutoCAD experience.

Areas Covered


  • Technical responses to customers and employees.
  • To assist in the development of new grades of materials.
  • To complete and develop application documents – internal and external.
  • To assist customers in the best methods for applying Tufcot products, including bearing calculations. Provide detailed product information to customers regarding products and manufacturing processes.


  • When required, to visit customers and support customer visits to Tufcot.
  • Sales and Customer Service: respond to incoming sales emails, create quotes all while maintaining a customer-centric approach.
  • Regular reports to the Managing Director on sales performance, and areas to develop/progress for the future.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of sales and business strategies.
  • Customer account management.
  • Working independently, you may be required to attend exhibitions and write reports.
  • Drive growth plans for the company.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and new customers, ensuring satisfaction and loyalty.


  • Collaborate with other departments; manufacturing, quality, and production.
  • To carry out such other duties the Company may reasonably require you to undertake with prior authority from a Director.
  • Regular supervision meetings with the Engineering Manager.
  • 3- and 6-month reviews will be required at the start of the employment.

Sawing & Sanding Production Worker – Woodworking

  • To Report To: Production Manager
  • Working Hours: Monday to Friday – 8am til 4.30pm (40Hrs)
  • Salary: From £13.25 per hour


  • Industrial Table / Wall Saw: 2 years (preferred)
  • Wide Bed Sander (approx 1m): 2 years (preferred)
  • Engineering: 2 years (preferred)

Ideal Candidate Outline

  • To be able to set and operate table saws.
  • To be able to set and operate sanders.
  • To be able to set and operate a multi-rip saw.
  • To be able to set and operate a bandsaw.
  • Must be able to use all standard workshop measuring equipment.
  • Must be able to read drawings.
  • Must be able to work to close tolerances.
  • Must be able to operate to both mm and inches.
  • Team player but must be able to work on your own initiative.
  • Previous experience in composite materials or plastics would be advantageous but not also essential.

The Role

Although we have stated woodworking as the job title, it is working with a composite material, however the skills from woodworking are transferable to our material and processes.

The successful candidate will be required to set and operate and range of woodworking machines within our busy sawing and sanding preparation area. As above the machines range from sanders, bandsaws and circular saws. You will be responsible for ensuring the work is prepared to the correct sizes for the routers and also that the parts are sanded once on the routers.

This is an opportunity for the right candidate to become a key member of our engineering team with the potential for training in other areas in the future. Flexibility is essential to cover other roles within the machine shop if required.

CNC Programmer / Setter / Operator (Days)

  • Post: CNC Programmer – Setter – Operator
  • To Report to: Production Manager / Managing Director / Chairman
  • Working Hours: Monday to Friday – 8am til 4.30pm (40Hrs)
  • Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
  • Salary: £15.00 per hour

The Role

This role will ideally suit someone with a high level / broad range of CNC knowledge with good problem-solving skills that is happy to take on a wide and varied range of tasks.

The successful candidate will be expected to hit the ground running and be a strong addition to the production team in a very short period of time

The candidate must be proficient in the following aspects of machining:

  • Turning – Stock removal cycles, canned cycles, nested loops & subroutines, grooving operations, broaching, live tooling work including milling, drilling tapping, polar interpolation,
  • Milling – Profiling, pocketing, helical interpolation, drilling, tapping, canned cycles, 3D Generation and interpolation, nested loops & subroutines, conversational programming, fixture and work holding design, 4th axis work,

Working within our busy fast paced CNC manufacturing cell being one of the key machinists. As part of the production team you will work with the department Supervisor and Production Manager carrying out tasks as instructed working from Job cards and drawings provided – the work is varied ranging from Technical new project work working with the Operations Manager and Technical team to production runs of components – you will sometimes be required to set up and program machines for our team of operators handing over the correctly set up machine for them to run.

Minimum Requirement

  • CNC programming: 5 years (required)
  • Milling: 5 years (required)
  • Turning: 5 years (required)
  • Engineering: 10 years (preferred)
  • Programming Setting & running a wide range of up to date Slant bed CNC’s on work diameters ranging from 10mm up to 900mm and 3 & 4 Axis Machining Centres – Flat Bed Router experience would be highly beneficial but not essential – however a willingness to learn this aspect is key.
  • For the Lathe / Turning aspect you should have a strong knowledge and background in Fanuc and be proficient in C axis work and driven tooling to ensure the most efficient and effective manufacturing methods are used at all times maximising the technology and tooling available.
  • For the Milling / Machining Centre aspect familiarity of machining centre methods for setting and programming are key, you should be able to think outside the box and be able to demonstrate strong problem solving skills and an ability to create work holding methods and fixtures to suit some of the nonstandard profiles we work with, Knowledge of Hurco Machining centres is preferable but strong knowledge in the method aspect may override this.
  • Full understanding of “On Machine” Fanuc & Standard ISO programming is essential for lathes and mills as a minimum – Hurco Conversational programming experience would be beneficial for milling – knowledge of offline programming and CADCAM would be an advantage.
  • Must be able to read engineering drawings and be 100% competent using standard engineering measuring equipment working to close tolerances (0.05mm / 0.002”).
