We are constantly looking for ways to reduce Tufcot’s environmental impact.

This usually involves changes within the business but, this time, employees got involved in making small environmental changes outside of the workplace.

Everyone was given the chance to suggest ways in which employees could reduce their own environmental impact.

Many of these suggestions have been implemented by Tufcot staff members.

We hope these are long-lasting changes and will help all our employees reduce their environmental impacts with small, simple changes.

The Changes Tufcot Employees Have Made

  • Reduce Heating – One employee in the accounts challenged the office to have no heating on for the whole of May.

  • Turn Off Appliances – Office employees are now turning kettles, microwaves, and other small appliances off at the end of every day.

  • Re-Using Plastic Packaging – For example, using yogurt pots for baby food preparation.

  • Tyre Pressure – Paying attention to tyre pressure on cars and other vehicles.

  • Hang Out Washing – Hanging washing on the line in nice weather instead of using the tumble dryer.

  • Reduce Washing Temperature – Washing clothes at 30 degrees will vastly reduce environmental impact.

  • Solar Panels – Using electricity generated by solar panels for all washing and dishwashers.

  • Lids On Pans – Putting lids on pans when cooking reduces the energy required to cook that dish.

  • Water Butts – Water butts allow us to use rainwater rather than water from the tap.

  • Planting Trees – Planting a tree in your garden at home absorbs carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.

  • Air Fryers – Use air fryer for all meals instead of the oven.

  • Recycling Bins – Using recycling bins at home reduces the amount of rubbish that ends up in landfill sites.

  • Walk/Cycle To Work – Walking or cycling to work reduces the use of fossil fuels and will also benefit your health.

More Changes To Come

As a company, Tufcot has also implemented a range of environmental changes and there are plenty more to come.

Over the last few weeks, we have been distributing personalised reusable water bottles to Tufcot staff members so they can have chilled water from our water dispensers.

This will help to reduce the amount of single-use plastic used within the premises.

We are also making efforts to increase the amount of plastic that is recycled from the premises.

Watch this space for further improvements!
