Tufcot enjoyed a record-breaking 2022 with many new customers & projects.
As a result, it was decided that we needed to invest in equipment & machinery to cope with the step up in workload.
Operations Manager, Justin Krebs, is a key member of the Tufcot team and an important part of his role is to assess and improve Tufot’s equipment and machinery.
Over the last few months, Justin has overseen some important investments that have resulted in a number of benefits to our customers including:

2 New State-of-the-Art Routers
Increased demand within our flat products meant that significant investment was required to improve our existing router capacity and capability.
Our SCM router has been mothballed (we already have bigger plans for this) and new router cell has been created.
We were helped by CNC Support Limited who not only supplied the machinery but assisted us with the custom specification and the floor plan enabling us to triple our output from the same floor space.
Installed with the help of DP Services Machinery Removals Ltd were two brand new state-of-the-art Routers comprising of a CNC Dynamics Evo 1530 single head (large bed) & CNC Dynamic Evo 2030 (twin head) including the very latest 3D capable controls and high speed drives.
As a result, we tripled our capacity, hugely improved our capability for single set up solutions and reduced machining times on these high speed machines.

Other New Equipment
Justin has also overseen investment in other equipment including:
I’ve always enjoyed buying new equipment & machinery as part of my role at Tufcot.
After an amazing record breaking 2022, with many new customers & projects, we invested heavily in equipment & machinery to cope with the step up in workload.
It’s been really satisfying to see the benefits of the new machinery and, with unprecedented orders & new business, I’m really pleased to be on the hunt for even more updates to production capabilities in 2023.

Maintenance
Another key part of Justin’s role is to oversee the maintenance of Tufcot’s equipment and machinery.
Preventative maintenance is often one of the overlooked aspects of a busy factory.
Typically, production and on-time delivery pressure results in priority being focused on manufacturing and not maintenance. This might save a day per year in production but all too often a breakdown will cost you several days/weeks waiting for engineers or parts.
At Tufcot, we recognise the importance of preventative maintenance by having our own in house Maintenance Team, Ian Stone and Steve Boler (pictured below), supported by a strong team of external engineers for specific CNC & Manual, Mechanical & Electrical repairs.
This team, coupled with a managed and structured schedule of service for over 120 pieces of plant and machinery onsite, mean we take a very proactive approach.
This combination of commitment to proactive maintenance and expertise meant that, during 2022, Tufcot only suffered one machine breakdown resulting in more than one days lost production.
This preventative maintenance approach is key in Tufcot’s efforts to support its customers with a 95% on time delivery performance during 2022.
