New DNV Approval
Tufcot® T100 Marine is now type approved by DNV – Maritime, the leading classification society in the maritime industry, for water-lubricated propeller shaft bearing applications.
This means that Tufcot® T100 Marine can now be accepted for installation on all DNV class vessels.
This adds to the existing Lloyds Register and DNV rudder bearing approvals held by Tufcot® T100 Marine, with further approvals to come in the next few months.

Tufcot® T100 Marine
Tufcot® T100 Marine is a versatile material with many applications in marine, inshore and offshore environments where low swell and compatibility with seawater are required.
It is the perfect solution for rudder bearings; able to operate in seawater but also under dry conditions when vessels are in ballast.
In the water-lubricated propeller shaft application, Tufcot® bearings operate hydrodynamically – lubricated and cooled by the seawater passing through them – and this, combined with the material’s resistance to particle embedding, results in very low wear of the shaft and the bearing.
The new approval is the result of extensive testing, including in-house evaluations on our stern tube friction and wear test rig, together with the submittal of documentation and further mechanical testing through external partners.

What This Means For Our Marine Customers
With these approvals in place, Tufcot® T100 Marine is available to our partners and customers in the marine sector for new build vessels and repairs where a LR or DNV approval is required.
Tufcot hold a range of tubes in stock that are available on a rapid turnaround basis for vessel in dock situations where prompt supply is important.
Even if the size you need is not in stock, the typical manufacturing time in these cases is 36 hours.
