Tufcot Investments

Tufcot have made our biggest investment ever with the recent purchase of our new Broadbent Stanley lathe.

Tufcot have been heavily investing in the recent years into new machines to help us to expand into new and existing markets but also allowing our capabilities to increase further.

The new Broadbent Stanley was made to order with the requirements we needed.

Increased Opportunities in the Marine Sector

The primary focus of the machine was to focus on the longer bearings for the marine sector.

Our current maximum length of tube material, which we could produce and then machine into useable parts, was 1 metre. This new machine will allow us, in time, to machine up to 4 metres long!

This means we have quadrupled our capacity with just one machine.

Not only have we significantly increased the length of material we may be able to machine, this is then coupled with the large diameter we can machine with our new purchase.

It will allow us to machine up to 2 metres diameter. We can currently machine up to 1.6 metres in diameter but with a shorter length.

This machine allows us to not only machine at a longer length but at a large diameter also.

Once we have developed our manufacturing department to cater for our increased needs, we would be more than happy to show you our new machine, whether on a video or in person.

Why Choose Tufcot® in the Marine Sector?

Tufcot’s® material grade T100MP, is Lloyds approved for Rudder and Rudder Pintle bearings and we are on the verge of announcing our T100MP range of material for class approval DNV-GL.

By utilising our own internal test rig, we have managed to make sure our material is up to the required specification for both class approvals.

Tufcot in the Marine Sector

Tufcot is ideal in the marine sector because:

  • Less than 0.1% volumetric swell of the material – these figures were recorded for our Lloyds approval certification.
  • Naturally low co-efficient of friction.
  • No maintenance.
  • Exceptional Dimensional Stability, Even in Wet Conditions.
  • 1/6th the weight of steel.

Tufcot® is an ideal choice to replace conventional materials. Our turnaround is fast, we have material in stock to suit a variety of different dimensions.
