In 2021, Tufcot was certified to the ISO 14001 international standard for environmental management across our full scope of operation.
This year, Tufcot was reassessed and, we are proud to say, retained its ISO 14001 certification.
This is thanks to the hard work and dedication of the Tufcot team, especially our Environmental Coordinator, Beth Bagshaw.
Beth has created a positive, shared attitude and introduced some brilliant new incentives which engage the whole organisation.
As a result, the Tufcot team has a clear understanding of the importance of ISO 14001 and is motivated to make positive changes.
The Importance of ISO 14001
ISO 14001 is a voluntary Environmental Management System (EMS) designed to help businesses like Tufcot improve their impact on the environment.
The framework guides us in meeting our legal responsibilities as well as ensuring we are ahead of environmental legislative changes.
We are working hard to reduce waste, improve resource efficiency and cut waste management costs.
This all helps us make considerable savings which are especially important in the current energy crisis.
Any savings we make, benefit both Tufcot and our customers as we can manage and minimise expenses.
Our ISO 14001 Audit
The reassessment involved QMS external auditors auditing our Environmental Management System and checking all our documents including Legal Register, Objectives and other documents that are required by ISO 14001.
I am pleased to say we passed the external audit and we have retained our certification for another year. The audit came back with all positives and no negatives, improvements or non-conformances.
The principle behind the yearly audits is to identify if Tufcot is compliant with environmental regulations, meeting objectives and continuously improve. Also, that we are identifying areas of risk associated with a full range of environmental impacts we may have.
By following the standards of ISO 14001, we maintain strong processes to ensure compliance against the standard, which helps us to prioritise environmental change and projects.
We will continue working towards our environmental goals.
